A Wedding at Château de Champlâtreux, Paris
Château de Champlâtreux is the classic French château wedding just outside Paris: an 18th-century house of pale stone, a chapel in the park, period salons and avenues of trees – only about 30 minutes from the city. Belle and Cole married here in April 2026, at the end of a three-day celebration in Paris, and I filmed the whole weekend on Kodak Super 8.

The château
The Molé family owned Champlâtreux for centuries. In the 1750s Mathieu-François Molé, later first president of the Paris Parlement, replaced the old house with the present château, built by the architect Jean-Michel Chevotet together with its stables and orangery. After the Revolution, when it served as a military hospital, the family restored it, and through marriage it passed to the Noailles family, who still own it. Around the château lie formal gardens and a landscape park of about fifty hectares, with avenues and an ornamental pond. It is a listed historic monument.
The wedding day
Champlâtreux is rented exclusively. Ceremonies take place in the 18th-century chapel of Saint-Eutrope in the park, outside in the gardens, or indoors in the Grand Salon, and the receptions flow through four period salons – the Grand Salon, the billiard room, the Salon Bleu and the dining room. Belle and Cole’s day had a string quartet and a live illustrator sketching the guests, and was planned by Laura Andrea Wedding.

Paris before and after
The great advantage of Champlâtreux is Paris. Guests can stay in the city, spend the first days exploring and come out to the château for the wedding day itself. Belle and Cole got ready at the Ritz, and we filmed their Paris weekend on Super 8 – café terraces, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower sparkling at night – before the celebration at the château. Charles de Gaulle airport is only 15 to 25 minutes away, and the Château de Chantilly and the Abbaye de Royaumont are close by.
A legal French marriage takes place at the town hall, so most destination couples marry legally at home and celebrate at the château with a symbolic ceremony. More about weddings in Paris and our Super 8 wedding films.
