Paris Wedding Videographer

Few cities are as made for film as Paris: stone façades in soft morning light, the arcades of the Palais-Royal, café terraces, the Seine at sunset and the Eiffel Tower sparkling at night. I film weddings and elopements in Paris and in the châteaux just outside the city – from an intimate ceremony to a celebration that fills a whole weekend.

I film as a documentary – watching and waiting for the real moments rather than directing them – and edit them into cinematic films you will want to watch again and again. For larger weddings I come with a team of two or three videographers, and Paris is a city where Super 8 film truly shines.

Château de Champlâtreux and the Ritz Paris

Belle and Cole’s three-day celebration began with getting ready at the Ritz on Place Vendôme and an evening by the Seine, and continued at Château de Champlâtreux, an 18th-century château surrounded by formal gardens less than an hour north of the city. With a string quartet, a live illustrator and the whole weekend filmed on Kodak Super 8, it is one of my favourite Paris weddings. Watch the film.

A wedding in the city or in a château

Many couples combine both: a civil or symbolic ceremony and portraits in the city – along the Seine, in the Tuileries or under the arcades of the Palais-Royal – and the reception in a château in the Île-de-France, where guests can dance late into the night. Others choose a grand hotel in Paris for the whole weekend and let the city be the backdrop.

Pre-wedding films in Paris

Paris is also one of the most popular places in the world for pre-wedding shoots. For the Singapore influencer Naomi Neo and her husband Hann I filmed a pre-wedding story across Milan, Paris and Prague – the Bir-Hakeim bridge and Pont Alexandre III at their quietest, in the early morning. Watch the film.

When to get married in Paris

May, June and September bring the best light and the most pleasant weather; July and August are warm, and August is the month when many Parisians leave the city. Early mornings are the best time for portraits at the famous places before the crowds arrive – at sunrise the Trocadéro and the bridges of the Seine are almost empty.

Getting legally married in France

A legal marriage in France has to take place at the town hall, and one of the partners usually needs to have lived in the municipality for some time before the wedding. That is why most destination couples marry legally at home and have a symbolic ceremony in France – with complete freedom to choose the place, the officiant and the words.

Working with your planner

Weddings in Paris are almost always organised by a planner who knows the venues, permits and suppliers. I work hand in hand with your planner and photographer, fit naturally into the timeline and keep the filming discreet. I take on a limited number of weddings each year, so every film gets the time it deserves.
